The following activity was reported for Q2 of 2011:

118 Total SAR Missions

Mountain Rescue Missions:

  • 37 Missions
  • 13 Injured Hikers
  • 5 Injured ATV Riders
  • 1 Injured Climber
  • 18 Lost or stranded persons
Dive Team:
  • 1 Mission
Logistics:
  • No missions second quarter
TEMS:
  • 80 Missions in support of SWAT
  • Volunteers are involved in all Missions
Missions of Interest:
  • On 5/1/11 SAR Officers responded to Calico II at Red Rock Canyon in reference to a fallen rock climber.  Initial reports stated that the female victim was critical.  Upon arrival, three SAR Officers conducted initial medical care, stabilized and packaged the victim in preparation for a helicopter evacuation.  The victim was short-hauled to the Red Rock Overlook, where care was transferred to Flight for Life.  The victim had been reportedly rope soloing a route with several other climbers present in the area.  A self-locking friction device released, causing the female victim to fall approximately 30 feet to the ground.
