First Online Fundraiser

Last month, we conducted our very first online fundraiser, aimed at raising funds for the volunteers that help support this Unit. Much of the equipment that is used to conduct rescue missions are purchased by the volunteers themselves. Money donated by members of the Community help to subsidize the cost of this equipment. As you can imagine, each volunteer is beyond thankful for every contribution that is made.

Show Your Support!

Last Thursday afternoon, seven Mountain Rescue volunteers dropped everything that they were doing and headed to Mt. Charleston in response to reports of a fallen climber. It was early afternoon, so many left work. Others gave up their day off. Each volunteer climbed into their personal vehicle and used their own gear to drive to Mt. Charleston, hike to the location of the fallen climber, and help with the recovery. Nearly 6 hours later, each volunteer headed back down the mountain, back to their normal lives. This type of scenario selflessly occurs numerous times throughout the year.

Big Stuff Happening in July

July is a huge month for our Unit. We have two major events going on at the moment that are both very exciting!

The first event is our recruitment initiative. We are currently looking for new volunteers for our Mountain Rescue team! If you are interested in volunteering, fill out our interest form  and submit no later than July 17th.

July 2011 also marks our first annual volunteer fundraising event.  We've never hosted an online fundraising event before, so our goal this year is to raise $1000.00 during this hot summer month.  All donations are tax-deductible and proceeds help support our volunteers.  There are two ways to submit your donation and we appreciate any support that you may be able to provide:

Announcing Friends of Metro 3rd Annual Golf Classic!

The Friends of Metro Annual Golf Classic serves as the primary fundraising event for LVMPDSAR. This year, the tournament will be held on May 3rd at the Canyon Gate Country Club. This event is very special to us, so your participation is greatly appreciated! In addition to golf, there will also be some fun activities as well as a raffle!
